FUSCHIAS IN SILK RIBBON EMBROIDERY "NATURE'S BALLERINAS"

 Just love these flowers, in a hanging pot and dancing in the breeze.

This Tutorial shows three ways in which to embroider Fuschia Flowers, 

all created by using Ribbon Stitch in a variety of ways. 

Which only goes to show how adaptable Ribbon Stitch can be in SRE.


Single Fuschia:

2 colours of 4 mm Silk Ribbon 

( eg Deep Pink and Purple).

Colour 1: Centre 2 Ribbon Stitches in Purple.

Colour 2:  2 larger Pink Ribbon Stitches 

crossing over at the top.

Thread:  3 Pistil Stitches coming down from the centre. 

Single Fuschia Bud. - 1 Darker Colour centre

with 2 overlapping crossed at the top, thread stitch across. 






Double Fuschia - Fan

 2 colours of  4 mm Silk Ribbon 

( eg. Pink and Pale Pink ).

Colour 1: Pale Pink 5/6 Ribbon Stitches Side  by Side shaping like a Fan 

Colour 2: Deeper Pink 2 short Ribbon Stitches for the tip.

4 Ribbon Stitches for Top Petals.

Colour 3:  Green Ribbon add a small Ribbon Stitch above the Pink for an extension of the tip.

Thread: Pistil Stitches. 

Double Fuschia - Fan - Bud

Colour 1 or 2 - 2 Ribbon Stitches and add a Green Ribbon Tip.

Thread: Straight Stitch across the tip.





Double Fuschia - Bell

2 Colours 4 mm Silk ribbon ( eg Cream / Pink )

Colour 1: Pink 4 Ribbon Stitches angled like a bell.

Colour 2: 2 Ribbon Stitches for the tip,6 long Ribbon Stitches, as illustrated an assortment of twisted and straight stitches. Leaving a slight amount of the Pink Ribbon Stitch showing.

Colour 3: Green Ribbon Stitch Tip.

Thread: Pistil Stitches.

Bell Opening Bud. as Single Fuschia






 This is taken from an earlier Lingerie Pouch I had as a Kit.

 The flowers can be linked together with stem stitch woven

  through for the branches and Fly Stitched leaves.






Notes for Guidance:

As the work area is so concentrated, do not skip 

over stitching  down your ribbons, it is far too easy

 to catch other areas and pull through your previous

 stitches. If you wish to replicate the full design 

or part of,  you may find it easier to do all of

 the bases that are the one colour at a time.

 Then progress to all the top petals 

and lastly the green tips.

Hi  Everyone,  Sorry it has been so long.  You know what it is like,  not enough hours in the day. Viola in Silk Ribbon Embroidery

As I promised in my earlier posting of Pansies in SRE, this is my version of a Viola flower. Please keep in mind that I have worked this in  7 mm. ribbons to make it easier to see on your monitors. I feel these would be so much more delicate and  effective in a 4 mm. ribbon. For the purpose of stitching this flower I have marked out a circle with a diameter of 20 mm. Step 1: Three Ribbon Stitches in Purple. 1 st. - 1 o'clock 2 nd. - 11 o'clock 3 rd. - 10 o'clock slightly overlapping the previous one. Keep the Ribbon Stitches as rounded at the tips as possible, shaping them around your fingernail. Step 2: Complete Two Ribbon Stitches in Cream, with the tip of the petal just outside the marked circle. 1 st. - Between 2 and 3 o'clock 2 nd. - Between 9 and 10 o'clock. Silk Ribbon Embroidery Tutorial - Tulips

TULIPS Simply constructed in Ribbon Stitch, the effect of the petals are changed by using Side Ribbon Stitch. Instead of taking the needle through the centre of  the ribbon, place the eye of the needle on the left or right seam of the ribbon. As the needle is pulled through the ribbon curls toward the entry point, thus giving the petal a slight rolled edge. As with Iris the leaves are stitched in the same manner. With a fold, curled, straight, or twisted. Step 1: Using a side stitch for the centres. Step 2: Make 2 more ribbon stitches for the outer petals, just slightly shorter length than the centre. Step 3: The stem is tightly twisted ribbon as in the iris. next add some leaves. Using a hand dyed ribbon, the colours can be changed as you progress to the outer petals.
