4. Do you feel you need some instruction.
In answer to these questions the Project Packs are an economical way to begin and my Blog Silk Ribbon Embroidery and You Tube Channel Carol Daisys Craft Room can guide you through the Stitches and Design.

Invitation to Pinterest - Silk Ribbon Embroidery

For almost 10 years I have been blogging through my Silk Ribbon Embroidery Blogspot as Carol Daisy,
where I have received visitors from all over the world.

This has been wonderful,
but I do not get to meet anyone and wonder if I am
giving assistance and encouragement to you all.

I am issuing an Invitation to join me on my Pinterest Group Board, to display your work and SRE you have been able to achieve.  This is not a competition of showing the best embroidery efforts, more so as encouragement for others, no matter your age, ability or experience.
I am of the firm belief that Embroidery, Crafts, Sewing, knitting etc. can be a therapy for anxiety, depression and loneliness. ( I state that from personal experience ) Using your Creative side can be so relaxing and rewarding, along with the fact that we are keeping these crafts alive, and
all share a common bond with our love of Craft.
This is not the end of the Silk Ribbon Embroidery Blog,
more so a new beginning, there will be more postings
in the future including Video Tutorials, Free Designs
and Stitches.

" Taken from my 1 st Post. June 2009 "

I have developed a passion for Ribbon Embroidery
 over the last 5 years.
At first it began from creating and selling my work,
but now it is about encouraging others to take up this easy,
 quick form of embroidery.

Really how difficult is it to put aside some time to sit and stitch, you won't believe how addictive it is to actually
create something  with your own hands. In this economic climate, people are starting to realise how
therapeutic craft can be.

Why not become one of them.

FREE DESIGN - Running / French Knot Combination

Petite Rose Corsage in

Running Stitch / French Knot Combination

A simple way to make your work shine and step up a notch
is to make use of a Hand Dyed Ribbon / Variegated Ribbon.

The changes in colour as you progress gives the finished result
more dimension and reality. Plus I feel the dye adds a stiffness
to the ribbon and presents the petals in a firmer way.

This is a Stitch which can be executed with 4 mm or 7 mm or even
(13 mm with some caution and overall difference in appearance ).
My preference is in 7 mm. which is used in this instance.

Using a plain silk dupioni piece or another fabric with a loose weave.
Follow the images below or go to my earlier post -

SRE- Running Stitch / French Knot Combination for more detailed steps.

Add some Ribbon Stitch Petals, Leaves, stem stitch for the Stems and
the Corsage is complete. Additionally you could add small beads to
the Rose Centres or scattered between the roses.

Turn your completed embroidery into a Fragrance Pouch and fill with Rose Petal Pot Pourri, Book or Phone Cover, or add it to your Crazy Quilting Blocks.

Newsletter Hand Dyed Thread Sale

Hello Fellow Bloggers

Well for Australia the cooler weather is on the way, and is the perfect time to spend relaxing with our embroidery. Maybe you are like myself with projects some need to be just finished off and others put aside with so many ideas and thoughts running through my mind of what it could become.

You will probably have noticed that I had a change to my website last year and with this Weebly site I am able to send out emails direct from the store.  At present I  send 2 separate emails. My request is that if you wish to continue receiving my newsletters in the future that you submit the request via the website Home Page. I shall no longer be sending emails through Vertical Response.

I am excited by all the new Products, Tutorial videos and designs to come and endeavour to inspire your creative muse in the process. Admittedly I am just 1 person and my time is limited, but hopefully we can all grow and learn.  I wonder sometimes if those who do not put aside time for Craft realise what they are missing in the relaxation and therapy it gives. My main objective when I first began this business and blog (2009) was to encourage beginners and creativity, and feel that has been the case, going by the visits to my blog from countries all over the world. To my customers a special coupon to help with your embroidery supplies.

COUPON:SILKTHREADS33   WILL GIVE 5% EXTRA DISCOUNT ON ALREADY DISCOUNTED AND FULL PRICE STOCK ( A GIFT FABRIC IMAGE )

Carol Daisy's Craft Room Lesson 3

CAROL DAISY'S CRAFT CHANNEL
Lesson 3:  Ribbon Stitch and its applications

Preparation for this lesson

Pansies:

Choice of 7 mm Hand Dyed Silk Ribbon
Kacoonda 035 and 040 are excellent choices.
The variances in colour actually do the colouring for you.
To this I have added solid colour in Purple, Lilac and Mauve.
7 mm Gold for the Centres.
7 mm Peach/Gold Hand Dyed for buds.
7 mm Hand Dyed for Leaves.
4 mm Soft Olive for Calyx and stems.
Black Rayon Thread

Small flower branches:

4mm solid colour Pale Pink
2 Tones Green Embroidery Cotton.
Darker Pink than Ribbon for French Knot Tips.

Finished Size 11 x 8 cms.

Close up photo of the pink branches.
Stem Stitch the main branch in Green Embroidery Thread 2 Strands.
Ribbon Stitch is applied slightly away from the stem stitch. Add 1 or 2
French Knots in a darker pink embroidery thread 1 strand at the end sitting
inside the fold.
Straight stitches in the same green are added to frame the buds and connect
to the main stem. The slender leaves varying in single to clusters are also in straight stitch.

As an Australian I can see this used to interpret many of our Native Flowering Bushes. Geraldton Wax, Grevilleas for eg. and am sure there would be other
varieties wherever you may live.

Fly Stitch can be an alternative as a
background if you want to bring the
Ribbon Work to the forefront.  It is easier to fill in the gaps with the use of embroidery thread.  Sometimes too much of the work in Ribbon can over power what you want to achieve.
You will see that in the free designs I have used this stitch to create a fern or baby's breath to balance off a design.
The Pansy Buds are 2 or 3 Ribbon Stitches in 7 mm Ribbon and I have
added different colours of ribbon
to enhance the areas of the Pansy.

For instructions and Tutorial on
Embroidery Stitches Follow the Link
to the top Right of my Blog and visit http://pintangle.com/stitch-dictionary/  Sharron has loads of stitches you can learn from and use with Ribbon Embroidery.

Carol Daisys Craft Room Lesson 2

Carols Daisys Craft Room - Lesson 2

Video Tutorial- Design and Ribbon Stitch

Following through from the Video here are a few more hints and
notes that may be of assistance should you be wanting to learn
the most common and useful of SRE stitches.  Typically it is used
as a fill stitch for petals, leaves, insects etc.

The tutorial is based on a simple design using a Hand Dyed 7mm
Silk Ribbon.( It may be difficult for some to purchase pure silk
ribbon, but it will reward you so much more than Satin Ribbon
with appearance, shaping and texture).
Vine is stem stitch 2 threads, Flowers and Leaves 7 mm Silk
Ribbon.  (Hand Dyed Silk gives the variance as each petal is
worked)

More details are shown on Ribbon Stitch Tutorial regarding the
shaping of the petals.

You will see that I prefer to place a layer of pellon under my fabric.
To me it makes a softer finish of the embroidery, and also if it
is a light texture fabric the view of the ribbon from one position to
another is hidden. So this being said keep a threaded needle available to stitch off the ends.  Doing each one as you go also keeps your stitches from pulling if a ribbon end is snagged while
working. Touch up the ink markings with a wet a cotton bud if you have drawn the design with a water erasable pen.

So once mastered, your question may be,what more can I create
with Ribbon Stitch:- just a small sample.
