Silk Embroidered Bracelet

Ever wonder what to do with those small pieces of Dupioni   in your stash. How about making an Embroidered Bracelet. Scrap of Silk Dupioni  9 x 18 cm. Red in this example. Pelon 4 cm x 18 cm.  Red Sequin Braid,  Organza Red Ribbon 20 mm. wide  Selection of Pressed Glass Leaves, Pearls, Seed Beads  in Gold or Bronze. Silk Ribbon 7 mm Red 1 Metre. Large Pearl and Bead Cap in Gold  ( Centre of Gathered Organza Flower) Thread - Clear beading thread or a matching colour. Toggle/Clasp. Place the Pelon on the back of fabric, allowing  .5 cm   for a seam allowance on both sides,  press down with iron on  silk setting then lightly  tack pelon into position. ( Usually best to overlock the edges of Dupioni  as they  do fray badly while you are embroidering) This will be folded in half and the seams stitched  together after completing embroidery. EMBELLISHING - CRAZY QUILTING,  SILK RIBBON EMBROIDERY Dimension and Pizazz Stepping up to the next level in SRE. Once you have mastered the technique of   SRE stitches and shaping these into flowers,  leaves, insects, etc. now it is time to take a step up. Layering, textures, variances of colour, reflections,  highlights all add a different effect and give  dimension to your work. Get together an assortment of beads, sequins,  metallic threads eg. Kreinik glass, lucite flowers  or leaves and see how it will change the effect of  your work.  Keep in mind Clear Beading Thread as an  option for stitching down laces, braid etc. No need  to change your thread constantly to match the item,  it blends in well.  Obviously this will not work for a basic dark colour  such as black, but with variances in shades will  disguise it well. Materials:    Equipment – Embroidery Hoops 100 and 150 mm.  Chenille - Size 22 and 20    Crewel - Size 8      Beading Needle.  Pelon, Wadding, Sewing Thread. Cream Damask, Backing Fabric, Felt, Plastic Insert. Ribbons: Mauve 7 mm. For Large Flower 3 mts.  4 mm.  Teal for flowers and vine, 2 mts. Gold 4 mm. For Fern, Burgundy 4 mm. For small daisy. 1mt of each - These are just a guide. Threads: Teal – Lazy Daisy Leaves and Vine plus  Pincushion wrap.  Teal and Gold thread also combined  for French Knots in Large Daisy.  Gold for Fern, Metallic Gold thread for Needle. Chenille and  Crewel Needles  Silk Dupioni, Pane Velvet, Braid, Plastic insert and  Backing fabric.  Sewing Thread, Wadding and Pelon. Ribbons:    Assortment of 4 mm. Ribbons for Flowers and Bees.
