Free Designs Inspiration Sampler

A Sampler I designed for Classes in Silk Ribbon Embroidery   Loop Flower  This may give you some  inspiration, should you  wish  to take the time and practice  each one.  Very simple flowers all worked within a 10 cm  box.  Colours choices can be varied or co ordinated, or whatever ribbon you have available. Some of these designs  are in  earlier posts on this blog. Tutorial - Folded Ribbon Rose

  Once you have mastered  the basic folding  technique  of these Roses,  they can be created from a wide  variety of Ribbons. The photo above shows them in Satin Ribbon, Satin Ribbon / Organza Ribbon Combination  and Organza with  a Gold Thread Edge.    Hand Dyed Silk Ribbon 25 mm. For a much softer effect of course you would use  Silk Ribbon.  The Hand Dyed Silk Ribbons which are available in the wider  sizes are ideal for this.   The variance in colour through the  ribbon becomes  shading in the petals,  making it more  realistic. Ribbon Edged Organza Ribbon  20 mm.  1 :  Cut the Ribbon edge at an angle. Fold the ribbon forward diagonally,  leaving a tail.  2:   Fold over the ribbon starting from  the  right, making a firm centre for the rose. Hint:   Should you be concerned about wastage of Ribbon, an alternative is to replace this with double fold crepe paper. This paper holds firm without stitching  by pressing the folds in place.  Allows you to have a few practi c e runs.

Tutorial - Poinsettia in Silk Ribbon

Poinsettias  A few Samples of Silk Ribbon Embroidery  on Christmas Projects.  Using Detached Chain or Ribbon Stitch.  Option 2: As I have done with these flowers, is to make them in detached chain. ( Much simpler and quicker alternative ) Make a slightly longer peak at each tip. Option 1: Poinsettia in Ribbon Stitch  Supplies:   .3 Metre of 7 mm. Red Ribbon  for each flower,   .2 Metre of 7 mm.  Green Ribbon, Gold Seed Beads, Metallic Gold Thread. 1:  Mark out a circle 2 cm across and small dot in the centre.  2:  Place Ribbon Stitches around this circle. Some to the outline and a few outside of the circle.   3:  Make second layer of Ribbon Stitches overlapping  the first petals, and of varying lengths. You may also have these slightly puffed up in comparison to flat against the fabric. Place a few leaves in the green ribbon in between the petals. 4:  Add the gold seed...

Silk Ribbon Embroidery Projects    Ribbon Stitch Flowers with Buds Supplies:    2 Metres 7 mm. Dk Apricot Silk Ribbon              .5 Metre of  DMC Metallic Thread or substitute. Small Butterfly Charm    Seed Beads  1:  The Flowers are worked  first in 7 mm. using  Ribbon  Stitch in a clockwise manner.  2:  With 1 strand of the gold, small  straight  stitches  out from the centre of the flowers.  Stitch 3 or 4 Seed  Beads into the centre. 3:  Buds are in Ribbon Stitch also.  4:  Stem Stitch from the Buds to the Flower Heads, and one fly stitch around the base of the Bud.  5:   Lazy Daisy leaves in Metallic Thread with some scattered around the outside of the flower spray.  6:   Stitch down the butterfly charm, with gold Sewing thread.

Silk Ribbon Embroidery Projects   Spider Web Roses in Apricot   Refer to the Spider Web Rose Tutorial to  prepare  the  embroidery.           Supplies:  1 Metre  Dark Apricot 4 mm Silk Ribbon 1 Metre Pale Apricot  4 mm Silk Ribbon   .5 Metre Olive Green 4 mm. Silk Ribbon   .3 Metre Matching Green Cotton  Thread  1: Create the Centre of the Spider Roses in  Dk Apricot,  then change to  the Paler colour.  Make sure you stay  in sequence when  changing ribbons.  2:  The buds are Detached Chain Stitch,  leaving  a  longer tip when  taking the needle back through  This will be part of the rose tip.  3:  Place a Y stitch around the base of the bud  and continue on  with stem stitch across to the Full   Rose. Silk Ribbon Embroidery Projects   Spider Web Roses with Fern and Baby Breath. Refer to this blog for Stitch Tutorial - Spider Web Roses with French Knots. Roses, Rosebuds and the Rose Leaves are in 4 mm. Silk Ribbon. You will Require:    Silk Ribbon: .5 mt. of 4 mm in 4 Colour Tones of Pink  Cream Silk Ribbon - Baby's Breath   Mt. Green Silk Ribbon - Leaves  Embroidery Threads: Green to Match Green Ribbon. Fawn or Olive  for Fern. Option of a Pearl for the Centre of 1 Rose.  1:  The Spider Roses.  The larger one and the top rose are one straight colour. The 3 rd. is Pink in the centre with a lighter colour on the outside.  2:  Next work the buds in Detached Chain Stitch. two straight stitches at the tip in Green Thread.  3:  Green Thread - Stem Stitch all the stems to the buds and leaf stems.
